Coffee with Gendlin: Monthly Talks to Bring More of Gendlin's Philosophy into Practice

Last year, I started the format of Coffee with Gendlin. The basic idea is to explore specific concepts of Gendlin's philosophy in a pleasant atmosphere and apply them experientially.

This year's theme is "Naked Saying and Close Listening."

As uncomfortable as the word "naked" might make us, we all have a longing to be original and natural.

With naked saying and close listening, we will explore how to say what we mean, free ourselves from constraints of language forms, and find ways to trust our inner voices.

Listening to what your inner voice has to say will bring you closer to yourself.

I am very excited to go on this gentle and deep journey with you.

This is what we will do and what you will get

  • 8 + 1 Sessions

We will ask some of Gendlin’s philosophical questions, listen to his answers, and reflect on what we heard. We will do exercises to experience close listening and naked saying and share our experiences.

  • Community

The partnership work during the breakout time allows you to get to know the other participants and to learn from each other. Like in a coffee house, you can share your experiences and follow up discussions in the learning portal.

  • Materials and Recordings

You will get the exercises as handouts. The recordings and presentations of the sessions will be available to re-watch. All the materials will stay in the learning portal, and you will have lifelong access.

Here are the topics we will address

In addition to the Free Online Session on February 5 "The Richness of a ..." we will explore:

  • What does Naked Saying mean?

  • What are the beginnings of naked saying?

  • How can we establish and embody the context of a ". . ."?

  • How do we listen to ourselves to hear the implying?

  • How do we get comfortable with the discomfort of naked saying?

  • How can old words make new sense?

  • How can many words come and make sense in a ". . ."?

  • What is instancing and how do instances function?
